The 2026 PV Module
Reliability Scorecard

The global solar industry’s trusted resource for PV module reliability and performance data. Powered by Kiwa PVEL’s Product Qualification Program (PQP).

The past year of PQP testing saw reduced power loss in multiple tests, higher energy yields and 43 manufacturers named as 2026 Top Performers. But the number of BOMs listed as Top Performers in all eight tests is extremely limited and the PQP failure rate has reached a new record high.

What's New In 2026 Scorecard

In this 12th edition of the Scorecard, Kiwa PVEL is honored to once again showcase a broad range of Top Performer manufacturers and module model types. To earn Top Performer status, model types made from unique sets of bills of materials (BOMs) need to meet or exceed the stated criteria for that particular Product Qualification Program (PQP) test.

The 2026 Scorecard also includes a new Top Performer category for UVID, along with new Key Takeaways and Test Result Spotlights on each test page. These cover the industry’s most pressing reliability topics, including module breakage, UVID, and n-type reliability and performance. Given the increase in PQP failures, the Failures page and individual test pages have an increased focus on the issues being uncovered during PQP testing.

And for the first time, the Scorecard will be released twice per year, with an updated version scheduled for November 2026.

Key Takeaways

This year's scorecard highlights critical reliability trends, emerging failure modes, and the manufacturers setting the standard for PV module performance.

Top Performer Overview

50

Manufacturers are included in the 2026 Scorecard as Top Performers

Nine manufacturers have at least one model type listed as a Top Performer in at least seven of eight tests. Eight manufacturers have a single model type listed as a Top Performer in all reliability tests (TC, DH, MSS, HSS, PID, UVID and LID+LETID). Seven manufacturers are first-time Top Performers. See the new Manufacturers page for more.

All-Star Exclusivity

21/ 300+

BOMs are listed as Top Performers in all reliability tests

Across the 307 unique model types listed as Top Performers, only 21 achieved Top Performer status in all reliability tests (TC, DH, MSS, HSS, PID, UVID and LID+LETID). Of those, only three were Top Performers in all reliability tests and PAN performance. See the Top Performers page for more.

test trends

Power loss reductions were seen across multiple tests, most notably in PID and UVID

Degradation due to PID and UVID has been reduced, power loss following MSS and HSS continues to be minimal and the percentage of BOMs with <2% degradation increased for TC and DH. While PAN energy yields also continue to improve, the percentage of BOMs with <2% degradation decreased for LID+LETID and PQP failures are concerningly high.

Failure Increase

87%

of manufacturers experienced at least one PQP failure

The PQP failure rate has increased at both the manufacturer level and the BOM level. Module breakage during MSS and HSS was once again the leading failure type, but there was a huge increase in the frequency of delamination issues, with 45% of manufacturers having at least one delamination failure. See the Failures page for more.
